Thompson Couplings

Adtec offers Megadyne drive solutions—including polyurethane and rubber belts plus pulleys—engineered for power transmission, synchronization, material handling, and linear positioning. These durable components deliver dependable performance across standard and heavy-duty industrial applications.

  • Misalignment Limits and Rating Considerations
  • The standard misalignment capacity is ±5° per end (10° total), but running continuously at the maximum limit should be avoided to maximize service life. Design installations well within this threshold to accommodate combined angular and parallel (offset) errors. Because combined misalignment impacts performance, both offset and angular factors must be evaluated together when confirming torque ratings and selecting the proper coupling.
  • Maintenance and Downtime Efficiency
  • Designed for easy wash-down maintenance, these couplings significantly streamline servicing and repair. In the event of a drive-end or driven-end breakdown, the system enables quick shaft separation and reassembly in minutes. This fast turnaround drastically minimizes operational downtime and reduces associated maintenance costs.
  • Series Selection Based on Torque and DBSE
  • Coupling selection across the TCAE lineup (R, S, E, ST, and ET Series) is driven by application torque requirements, maintaining a consistent coupling size across the entire range. The specific series chosen depends on the required Distance Between Shaft Ends (DBSE). Whether accommodating tight shaft spacing or customized, long drivelines, the flexible TCAE range provides tailored solutions for every configuration.

Advantages

  • Maintenance Free
  • No Laser Alignment
  • Reduced Operating & Power Cost
  • Components Serial Numbered
  • Works In Harsh Enviroments
  • Reduces Vibration

Benefits

  • Allows the design of the driveline around the requirements of the application, accommodating up to 10 degrees of misalignment
  • Requires NO laser alignment but more importantly – absorbs vibration protecting both motor and driven shaft.
  • Reduces power cost.
  • Reduces operating costs – Long running life
  • Maintenance Free – Sealed for life
  • Reduces downtime breakdowns, operating temperatures and power losses
  • Relieves the misalignment problems and premature wear caused by thermal expansion, vibration and soft footing
  • Minimises the damaging forces that impact on bearings, seals and bodies through side load, overhung and axial load
